What is Cellulite
It’s the time of the year again where
summer is in and women put on their lovely
bikinis and bathing suits and head out to
the beach. But how many of you actually feel
proud and have total confidence to pull out
that barely-there attire? Not many. Almost
90% of women in America and Europe suffer
from the dreaded orange peel skin,
or the cottage cheese “syndrome”
– the Cellulite. This unsightly
bumpy appearance of the skin is most
commonly seen on the hips, thighs and buttocks
of women.
Cellulite generally affects all
women regardless of size, weight and body
type at some point of their lives. So you
may ask, what exactly is cellulite?
Cellulite is enlarged fat cells or
body fat layer that sits just under the skin,
causing bumpy appearance on the overlying
skin. This type of fat is trapped in between
areas where there is a high amount of fat
to muscle, like buttocks, hips and thighs.
Women are more likely to develop cellulite
than men due to the different pattern of fat,
muscle and connective tissue are distributed
in the body.
Take note that cellulite does not differ
from other types of fat, but it appears rather
more visible than fat deeper in our body. Additionally,
the appearance of cellulite becomes more
noticeable during pregnancy. As you gain weight,
the accumulated fat deposits under the skin become
larger, creating the bumpy, dimpling effect on
the body. As you age, the skin becomes thinner
therefore; the cellulite appearance becomes
more visible than younger people. Also read Cellulite
